You Always Remember Your First

As a career counsellor at Trent University I’m continuously asking the students I work with: what brings you joy? What lights you up in this life? In what experiences do they feel most authentically yourself? My intention behind these types of questions is to guide them towards discovering potential career paths that resonate with their passions. After hosting our first retreat at Bed Yoga Breakfast (BYB) in Campbellford, ON I felt this passion, fire and excitement spark deep inside of me. That ‘aha moment’ I try to get my students to identify was burning inside of me! I knew deep in my bones that Mackenzie and I had started something special.

Bed Yoga Breakfast

We hosted our first 3 retreats at Bed Yoga Breakfast (BYB). This property holds a special spot in our hearts for countless reasons. Kat the owner of the BYB is an amazing animal advocate. She runs Promised Land Animal Sanctuary at this property as well. She provides a safe haven for animals who have been neglected, abused, abandoned or forgotten. She cares for horses, chickens, ducks, pigs, donkeys, alpacas, goats, sheep, dogs and cats. Each resident of the property has their own story of resilience and healing. We shared space with these beautiful animals on her stunning 25 acre property. Our retreat guests got to experience the power of animal therapy. Whether it was being greeted by a friendly turkey or indulging in belly rubs with a gentle pig, each moment spent in their company was a profound reminder of our interconnectedness.

The property had a lot to offer. We got to access beautiful trails during our forest therapy sessions, a yoga studio where we practiced gentle yoga and experienced a transformative sound bath and a cozy library where guests got lost in a good book. We spent time together in the living room working on intuitive art and having late night heart- to-hearts. And let's not forget the delicious vegan meals that kept us fueled and smiling all weekend long.

A Sanctuary for Both Humans & Animals

Our guests trusted us and each other as they opened up about their lives, challenges, hopes, and dreams, creating a bond that was truly magical to witness. Some even treated themselves to massage therapy and reflexology sessions, adding an extra layer of relaxation and rejuvenation to the experience.

In a nutshell, BYB is more than just a retreat destination—it's a sanctuary for both humans and animals alike. Mackenzie and I feel incredibly fortunate to have hosted our first few retreats in this space and we will always cherish the memories made here and we know our guests will too!
